As a Sunrise Services caregiver training instructor, you will train adult students to help our community as caregivers. You can also play a key part in helping current caregivers prepare for NAC certification and move forward into healthcare careers. Your students will deeply appreciate your work!
This is a part-time position ideal for a nurse who wants to earn some extra income on the side. You will have some flexibility in choosing which days you work.
Key Details
- Pay: $33-38 per hour upon hire, depending on experience and training. Also, a 3000.00 hire bonus is available for this position.
- Schedule: Part-time and flexible. We need an instructor who can work 8:00 am to 5:00 pm for 5-10 days per month, including at least one Saturday per month. We may also ask you to work a few evenings per month from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
- Location: Mostly at our Everett location, 7016 Evergreen Way, Everett, WA, 98203. You will also work in Oak Harbor some days.

What You Will Teach

As a part-time instructor, you will teach current and future caregivers the skills they need to achieve or renew certification and provide better care to their clients. You will teach a Nursing Assistant Certification Course and possibly CE population-specific classes such as Mental Health and Dementia.
Our Nursing Assistant Program is four days in class, and the fifth day is spent in a facility with you and the facility NAC supervising their clinical skill development. The class is usually completed in one week back to back. However, it is possible to split it out over 2 week period.
What We’re Looking For
We’re looking to hire a qualified nurse who enjoys teaching. A good candidate for this role has:
- An active license to work as an LPN in WA state.
- At least one year of experience in a direct care position in a long-term care setting within the last five years.
- Either certification as a DSHS and DOH instructor or willing to apply for one. You will receive paid professional training, and the entire curriculum has already been developed.
- No physical limitations that would prevent teaching students every skill required for HCA-Cs and NACs in hands-on skills practice.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Good organizational and record-keeping skills.
- Acceptance of people from various economic, social, and cultural backgrounds.
- Reliability with an excellent attendance record.
- Ability to work independently without direct supervision.
- Willingness to put on a professional affect and appearance.
- A love or desire for teaching adults..
- A positive and supportive attitude, including comfort with humor.
Please note that we cannot accept candidates who work for competing training organizations in the same field. You may not solicit students for private paid lessons outside of the Sunrise schedule, other positions, or outside interests.
