Are you interested in becoming a caregiver, but unsure where to start? Even with all the different caregiving training programs out there, it might be difficult to find one that fits around your existing responsibilities.
Luckily, Sunrise Services has a program designed to fit both your interests and your busy schedule. Check out Sunrise’s caregiver training options!
Choose the Best Caregiver Training Program For You
A caregiver training program should not be chosen lightly. Make sure you choose a program that fits your schedule and includes courses that are specific to the population you wish to work with.
Whether you are a prospective caregiver just starting out, on track to eventually become a NAC, or just looking to continue your home care aide education, Sunrise Services has a flexible and diverse training program that fits your needs wherever you are on your caregiving journey.
Online or In-person Caregiver Training
Sunrise has many courses that you can take either online or in person. Caregivers who need continuing education credits can take courses wherever they feel most comfortable.
Within our Basic Caregiver training program, you will find online learning options for every subject that can be taught remotely. Our 5 hours of Orientation & Safety training is only offered online, while our 30 hours of Population-Specific training can be completed either online or in-person.
The 40 hours of Core Basic training is only offered on-site to ensure you have plenty of hands-on time practicing in our fantastic skills lab. We offer this 5-day training once a month, so there is always an opportunity to take the in-person portion when it suits your schedule.
Courses You Could Take
Many of the courses you take will depend on the people you plan to serve as a caregiver. There are many different populations to specialize in, from the young to the elderly, to people with different neurological and physical conditions. Any population you choose will have a unique set of needs that you will need to account for as a caregiver, and our courses are designed to teach you everything you’ll need to know about how to address them.
For instance, if you are interested in working with the elderly population, we have classes on stroke, dementia, and working with people with visual impairments. We also have courses that focus on issues with different parts of the body, including heart, respiratory, digestive system diseases.
For those interested in serving those with different mental health conditions, we have classes on general mental health, and also on bipolar disorder, depression, and the problems that can stem from these conditions, such as suicide.
We also have classes directed toward serving clients from very specific populations, such as those living with HIV/AIDS, cerebral palsy, autism, ADHD, and many other mental and physical conditions.
And last but not least, we offer courses that are relevant no matter what population you plan to be working with, such as our classes on communication, cultural sensitivity, and client rights.
