Sunrise Services strives to be an excellent employer. We offer medical, dental, and vision insurance with an HSA and HRA, plus 100% employer-paid Group Term Life and Accidental Death and Dismemberment (AD&D) Insurance for employees. But that’s just the beginning: we also offer a variety of additional, voluntary benefits you can choose to sign up for.
Here are some of the benefits you can enjoy as a Sunrise Services employee.
Voluntary Insurance and Indemnity Benefits
Voluntary Life and AD&D Insurance
You can purchase voluntary life and AD&D insurance for yourself, your spouse, and/or your children through Unum. There are a variety of options with different benefit amounts.
Life insurance rates are based on your age, starting at $0.39 per month per $10,000 of coverage for employees under 25 and going up to $57.20 per month per $10,000 of coverage for employees 75+. The AD&D portion costs $0.30 per month per $10,000 of coverage for employees, $0.16 per month per $10,000 of coverage for spouses, and $0.064 per month per $10,000 of coverage for children.
Voluntary Short-Term Disability Insurance
We also offer short-term disability insurance as a voluntary benefit through Unum. This benefit gives you financial assistance if you become disabled or unable to work. You will get 60% of your eligible base pay, up to $5,000 weekly, for the first 3 or 6 months of an injury or illness. However, your benefit may be reduced if you receive other disability benefits from retirement, social security, workers’ compensation, state disability insurance, no-fault benefits, or return-to-work earnings.
You can keep your short-term disability benefit even if you leave Sunrise or retire. You own the benefit.
Voluntary Accident Insurance
Voluntary accident insurance pays you a set cash benefit after an accident, whether it’s on or off the job. Your cash benefit is based on the type of injuries you have and the treatment you need. For instance, if you have a dislocation, the plan will pay you $300-$6,000, which you can use on treatment or anything else you need.
You can enroll for yourself only at $5.79 per pay period, yourself and your spouse at $9.36, yourself and your child(ren) at $10.80, or your whole family at $14.37.
Voluntary Critical Illness Benefit
This benefit gives you a lump sum payment if you or your child (or your spouse, depending on the coverage you choose) are diagnosed with a covered illness. You can use the money to help pay for medical or any kind of personal expenses.
You can choose from a variety of benefit amounts at different rates, including $10,000, $20,000, or $30,000.
Voluntary Hospital Indemnity Benefit
This benefit helps reduce the financial impacts of hospitalization. When you or a covered family member is admitted to the hospital for a covered accident, illness, or childbirth, you get money paid directly to you. You can then use the money for out-of-pocket expenses like coinsurance, copays, deductibles, and other costs your medical plan may not cover.
The indemnity policy pays you $1,500 for a covered hospital admission up to once per year, plus $200 for each day of your stay up to 15 days and a $50 wellness benefit that can count toward certain types of health screening tests. You can get this benefit for $15.15 per pay period for yourself only, $29.42 for you and your spouse, $19.66 for you and your child(ren), and $33.95 for the whole family.
Pet Insurance
Sunrise Services employees get discounts on Nationwide pet insurance. The My Pet Protection plan reimburses a straightforward percentage of your vet bill. You can choose a plan that offers 50% or 70% reimbursement.
Other Benefits

401(k) Retirement
If you are over 21, have worked at Sunrise Services for a year, and work for at least 1,000 hours per year, you will be eligible for our 401(k) retirement plan benefits with up to a 6% match. We automatically enroll you, and you will contribute 3% of your earnings pretax (with a 1% increase each year) unless you select a different amount or choose to opt out.
Sunrise will match 50% of your contributions up to a 6% match, although this match comes with a vesting schedule based on how long you stay at the company. If you leave after less than two years, you won’t keep any of the match (although you will keep your own contributions). If you leave after 6 years, you will keep the full match, and if you leave after between 2 and 6 years of service, you will keep part of the match.
529 College Savings Plan
It’s harder than ever for students to pay for higher education, but a CollegeAmerica 529 savings plan can help. You can invest the money you contribute to a 529 account tax-free and use it for expenses in any U.S. public or private college, including undergraduate, graduate, professional, or vocational programs.
With a 529, you can invest in education for anyone — your children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews, friends, or even yourself. There are no age or income limits. The operating expenses are low and don’t include sales commissions, and you always maintain control over the assets.
Legal and IDShield
LegalShield gives you a dedicated law firm you can go to for many common legal matters. It includes letters and calls, contract and document reviews, will preparation, power of attorney, IRS audit assistance, speeding ticket assistance, uncontested divorce or separation, and adoption and/or name change representation.
IDShield helps you protect your identity. It includes social media monitoring, privacy and security monitoring, consultations, full identity restoration, and a $5 million service guarantee.
You can get these benefits at $27.90 per individual or $33.90 for your family. You can also purchase them separately at $18.95 for LegalShield (whether as an individual or family), $8.95 for individual IDShield, or $18.95 for family IDShield.
Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
The Employee Assistant Program (EAP) gives you and your dependents confidential, 24/7 support for just about any kind of life issue, including stress, personal and life improvement, illness, debt, and family problems. This program includes:
- Up to three face-to-face visits with experienced clinicians per occurrence at no per-session cost to you.

Washington Paid Family & Medical Leave
Workers in Washington state have had access to the Employment Security Department’s Paid Family & Medical Leave benefits since January 2020. With this program, you can take up to 12 weeks (or 18 weeks in certain circumstances) of paid leave to care for a new child, a seriously ill family member, your own serious health condition, or a family member’s military deployment.
This program replaces up to 90% of your weekly pay at up to $1,456 per week. Both you and your employer pay into this program, and it is deducted directly from your paycheck.
