Sunrise Services is now hiring three Substance Use Disorder Professionals and three trainees across multiple locations. If you’re looking for a job where you can help people recover from substance use disorders, we’d love to hear from you!

The Sunrise Services Behavioral Health program offers wraparound services, including counseling, therapy, EMDR, medication management, and employment services. As of April 2025, we are hiring for the following roles:

Substance Use Disorder Professional

As a Substance Use Disorder Professional at Sunrise, you will provide counseling, information, and referral services to clients and their families. Your role will help contribute to individuals’ physical and mental health throughout the rehabilitation process.

On any given day, you might:

  • Provide case management services, assess clients’ presenting problems, form individualized treatment plans, apply treatment, assess, monitor, and document clients’ responses to clinical interventions.
  • Provide chemical dependency therapy and related services, both in individual and group settings.
  • Make referrals for medication management consultation.
  • Coordinate detox and inpatient placement services.
  • Provide crisis intervention and consultation by phone as needed.
  • Provide offsite screening and assessment services.
  • Submit timely written evaluations and reports in compliance with regulatory and industry agencies as well as Sunrise Services standards.
  • Attend consultation meetings with a supervisor.
  • Communicate with clients and family members about their needs, objectives, interests, skills, and support systems.

We are looking for candidates with experience in a behavioral health care setting, including experience with adults who have chemical dependency and mental health issues. You should have at least an associate’s degree in a human services-related field or similar education from an approved school, plus a Substance Use Disorder Professional certification, DSHS background clearance, and a current valid Washington State driver’s license.

You will be part of a multi-disciplinary therapeutic team.

Pay range: $28 – $36.53/hour

Substance Use Disorder Trainee

Work toward your counseling certification as a Substance Use Disorder Trainee at Sunrise Services! In this role, you will provide clinical services under close supervision and receive daily tutoring by lead counselors with special expertise.

This training program allows you to participate in providing individual and group counseling, learn to conduct chemical dependency assessments, develop and review individualized treatment plans, conduct family educational sessions, record patient notes, and work with other behavioral health team members.

To qualify for this role, you must have:

  • Current SUDPT by the Washington State Department of Health.
  • An associate’s degree or equivalent education in a human services-related field from an approved school.
  • At least 50 supervision/observation hours.
  • Current TB test and First Aid/CPR documentation.
  • A valid Washington State driver’s license and auto insurance.
  • The ability to maintain confidentiality in accordance with various patient healthcare laws and regulations.
  • The ability to work with diverse populations, including diverse ethnicities and people with different kinds of problems.
  • An understanding of the disease of addiction, withdrawal, and treatment resources for recovery, including 12-step philosophy and programs.
  • Commitment to setting a positive example of behaviors for patients and maintaining professional boundaries.
  • The ability to participate collaboratively and professionally in a team environment.
  • Basic computer skills, including keyboarding and familiarity with Windows, Word, and Outlook.
  • Reliable work attendance.
  • No history of misuse of alcohol or other drugs for a minimum of one year prior to employment, plus a willingness to agree to random and for-cause drug testing.
  • You cannot have been a patient at Sunrise Services in the past four years.

We expect trainees to become certified counselors within four years of commencing training and show progress toward attaining proficiencies. You will be responsible for recording your hours of experience for certifications and obtaining signatures from your supervisor when completing patient documents.

Pay range: $25 – $28.98/hour.
