Orientation and Safety Training
The program begins with a mandatory 5-hour Orientation and Safety Training, covering foundational knowledge and best practices. This part of the training is fully online and must be completed before you start working with clients. If you have completed this class in a long-term care facility, simply make a copy of it and send it to enrollment@sunriseemail.com.
Core Basic Training
The core of the program is the 54-hour Basic Training, combining 38 hours of coursework and two days of hands-on skills practice in a lab setting. This segment of the training not only equips you with practical caregiving skills but also helps prepare you for the Washington State certification exam, which you must take within 150 days of completing your training.
Population-Specific Training Programs
You must also complete 16 hours of Population-Specific Training. You must choose at least two population concerns or conditions to learn about, such as dementia, mental health, and/or traumatic brain injury (TBI). (Now, just Dementia and Mental Health as they will need it if they bridge to NAC). These courses are conducted on-site or live (virtually) to provide in-depth understanding and hands-on experience.
