75 Hours Basic Home Care Aide Training
(Initiative 1163)
75 hours of basic training is required for all new caregivers. After completing, students need to pass their State exam (written & skills testing) to achieve their Home Care Aide Certified (HCA-C) credential. Students may do all hours on-location. The 75 hours involves 3 types of training which can be taken in any order:
5 Hours of Orientation & Safety Training
- Offered online only
- Covers basic knowledge & safety practices
- Caregivers must complete this course before working with a client
16 Hours of Population Specific Training
- Topics Include: Dementia, Mental Health, and TBI
- Classes Taken on-site
54 Hours of Core Basic Training
- Includes Instructor lecture, group-work, and hands-on skills practice in our innovative skills lab
- The certification testing process is gone over in this course
