At Sunrise Services, we offer a variety of trainings to help you level up your caregiving career. Check out these convenient caregiver training programs that will help you get your initial HCA-C certification, specialize, become an NAC after 6 months and 6 college level classes when you can apply for LPN programs and transition into nursing, or gain more job opportunities while also getting continued education (CE) credit.
1. 75-Hour Basic Home Care Aide (HCA) Training
Before you can become a certified caregiver (HCA-C) in Washington state, you need to complete a 75-hour basic caregiving training program. Sunrise Service’s program meets all DSHS requirements and prepares you for the state exam.
This training program is partially online and partially in person to create a balance between convenience and 16 hours of hands-on practice. All instructors are approved by DSHS.
After taking this course, you must take the state exam, which includes both a skill test and a written test. If you pass both parts of the exam, you will gain your HCA license. From there, you can choose to pursue credentials in Nurse Delegation and Nurse Delegation Diabetes, move on to the NAC Bridge program to gain the 6 month NAC experience needed as a prerequisite for applying to nursing programs.
Enroll Now2. NAC Bridge Program
Looking to upgrade your career? The Sunrise Services NAC Bridge Program is designed to help certified home care aides in Washington state (HCA-Cs) become nursing assistants (NACs). Holding an NAC license and having 6 months of direct patient care experience are part of the prerequisites for applying for a licensed practical nurse (LPN) program.
To join the program, you must already have your Washington state license. This training “bridges” the gap between what you previously learned in the Basic 75-hour HCA-C Training Program and what an NAC is expected to know.
After graduating from the NAC Bridge program and passing the state NAC licensing test, you can work as an NAC. You may find job opportunities at Sunrise, other home health agencies, residential care facilities, extended care facilities, clinics, hospitals, halfway facilities, private households, and other locations. NAC employment is expected to grow much faster than most other occupations as the population ages.
This intensive 5-day course includes 17 hours of classroom instruction, 13 hours of hands-on skills lab training and practice, and 8 hours of in-facility clinical hours. After you complete the course, you will receive a certificate of completion. You will also be ready to take the NAC licensing test offered by Credentia in Washington state.
Enroll Now3. Nurse Delegation Certification

Our Nurse Delegation courses certify HCA-Cs and NACs to take on extra responsibilities beyond normal duties when delegated by a nurse. In the Nurse Delegation Core program, you will learn about the nurse delegation process, the legal issues involved, and what tasks can or cannot be delegated. You will have an electronic copy of the course book that you can open on a computer, tablet, or phone.
After taking the core course and studying the material, you can take the DSHS-developed test. If you pass by 80% or more on your first or second attempt, you will receive an ND certificate. You can then work with an RN for further training on any specific nurse delegation tasks that are assigned to you. The Nurse Delegation Core self-study course can also count as 9 CE credits.
Enroll NowWe also offer a Nurse Delegation Diabetes (NDD) course for students who take and pass the ND Core course. This 3-hour self-study course teaches you how to provide care to a client with diabetes, including insulin injections. After you achieve the certificate, you can work with an RN for hands-on training. The Nurse Delegation Diabetes self-study course counts as 3 CE credits.
Enroll Now4. Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) DSHS Approved Specialty Training
The TBI Enhanced Specialty course is a 1-day training with a written exam at the end. If you pass it with an 80% or higher, you will receive a certificate. As per state requirements, this course is not available online.
This course meets job requirements for many AFH and assisted living roles. It also counts as 8 CE credits for active HCA-Cs.

Sunrise Services offers many other specialty and continuing education (CE) courses for caregivers. Specialty courses cannot be done online because of state requirements. However, if you choose to take a specialty course, you can earn a certificate in an area like mental health, dementia, or substance use disorder (SUD), which may help you gain new job opportunities.
Other license renewal CE courses are available online, where you can take them at any time of day and at your own pace as your schedule permits. 12 CE credits are required each year before your birthday for your license renewal.
